Overview
Template Management provides a central library for all document templates used across the hospital -- clinical note templates, discharge summary formats, consent forms, prescription templates, report templates, and letter formats. Templates ensure consistency, reduce documentation time, and enforce institutional standards.
Template Types
Bio Ecko supports templates for:
- Clinical Notes -- SOAP templates, procedure notes, consultation notes
- Discharge Summaries -- Format with auto-populated sections
- Consent Forms -- Procedure-specific consent with multilingual support
- Prescriptions -- Regimen templates for common conditions (e.g., Diabetes starter, Hypertension protocol)
- Lab Report Formats -- Custom report headers and interpretation guidelines
- Letters -- Referral letters, fitness certificates, medical certificates, insurance letters
- Operative Notes -- Procedure-specific templates with anatomy diagrams
Creating & Editing Templates
Build templates using the template editor:
- Rich text editor with formatting, tables, and images
- Variable placeholders ({{patient_name}}, {{age}}, {{diagnosis}}, {{today}})
- Conditional sections (show section only if condition is met)
- Repeating sections (for multiple medications, diagnoses)
- Section locking (prevent users from modifying certain sections)
- Preview with sample data before publishing
Template Organization
Templates are organized by:
- Scope -- Personal (only you), Department (shared with department), Organization (available to all)
- Category -- Clinical, Administrative, Financial, Legal
- Specialty -- General, Cardiology, Orthopedics, etc.
- Status -- Draft, Published, Archived
Department and organization-level templates require approval from the designated template administrator before publishing.
Version Control
Every template change creates a new version:
- View version history with change diffs
- Roll back to any previous version
- Documents created using an older template version retain that version's format
- Force-update option to apply new template version to all pending drafts
