Overview

The blood inventory shows real-time stock of all blood components, categorized by blood group and product type. It tracks the complete lifecycle from collection to expiry or transfusion.

Inventory Dashboard

The dashboard displays:

  • Stock by blood group (A+, A-, B+, B-, AB+, AB-, O+, O-)
  • Stock by component (Whole Blood, PRBC, FFP, Platelets, Cryoprecipitate)
  • Units nearing expiry (highlighted amber/red)
  • Units reserved for cross-match
  • Discard rate and reasons
  • Minimum stock alerts (configurable per blood group)

Click any cell to see individual bag details with donation number, collection date, expiry date, and test status.

Component Separation

After collection and testing, whole blood is separated into components:

  1. Open the bag record
  2. Select separation type (e.g., Triple Bag -> PRBC + FFP + Platelet Concentrate)
  3. Record component volumes and new bag numbers
  4. Each component gets its own expiry (PRBC: 42 days, FFP: 1 year frozen, Platelets: 5 days)
  5. Components are added to inventory automatically
