Overview

The OT module manages the entire surgical workflow -- from surgical scheduling and pre-operative assessment through intra-operative documentation to post-operative recovery.

It is integrated with IPD (admitted patients), Emergency (trauma surgery), and Billing (surgical package charges).

Key Features

  • OT scheduling with theatre allocation and conflict detection
  • Surgeon preference cards (instruments, sutures, supplies per procedure)
  • Pre-operative checklist (WHO Surgical Safety Checklist)
  • Intra-operative documentation (surgical notes, anaesthesia record, time-out)
  • Specimen tracking (surgical specimens sent to lab)
  • Implant registry with batch/lot tracking and recall alerts
  • Post-operative recovery (PACU) monitoring
  • OT utilization analytics (turnover time, cancellation rate, utilization percentage)

Surgical Scheduling

  1. Surgeon submits an OT Request from the IPD/OPD module
  2. OT coordinator reviews and assigns:
    • Theatre number
    • Date and time slot
    • Anaesthesia type and anaesthetist
    • Required equipment and instruments
  3. Preference card is pulled for the surgeon and procedure
  4. CSSD is notified to prepare instrument sets
  5. Pre-op assessment is completed by the anaesthetist
  6. On the day of surgery, the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist is completed
  7. Surgery proceeds with time-stamped documentation
