Overview
The Environmental Management module tracks and reports on the hospital's environmental footprint -- energy consumption, water usage, waste generation, air quality, and carbon emissions. It supports sustainability reporting, regulatory compliance (CPCB norms), and green hospital certification.
Energy & Water Monitoring
Track utility consumption:
- Dashboard with real-time energy (kWh) and water (kL) consumption from IoT meters
- Department-wise and floor-wise consumption breakdown
- Trend analysis with month-over-month and year-over-year comparisons
- Anomaly detection alerts (sudden spikes in consumption)
- Cost tracking with utility tariff rate configuration
- Target setting and variance reporting for sustainability goals
Waste Management Integration
While the Biomedical Waste module handles clinical waste, Environmental Management covers:
- General solid waste (dry, wet, recyclable) tracking
- E-waste inventory and disposal tracking
- Waste reduction goal setting and monitoring
- Vendor management for recycling and disposal services
- Monthly waste audit report generation
Air Quality & Emissions
Monitor indoor and ambient air quality:
- Integration with IoT air quality sensors (PM2.5, PM10, CO2, VOC)
- OT and ICU air quality compliance monitoring (HEPA filtration effectiveness)
- DG set emission tracking (SOx, NOx, particulate matter)
- Carbon footprint calculator for the hospital
- Green building compliance metrics
Compliance & Reporting
Generate regulatory reports:
- CPCB annual environment statement
- State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) returns
- Green hospital scorecard (IGBC, GRIHA)
- Sustainability report with ESG metrics
- Internal audit checklists for environmental compliance
All data is archived for historical comparison and regulatory audits.
Notes
Tip
Connect IoT energy meters via the BEMS integration to auto-populate consumption data instead of manual entry.
Clinic tip
Small clinics can skip IoT integration and use manual monthly entry for basic environmental tracking required for compliance.
