Overview

The Mortuary Management module tracks deceased patient management from the point of death declaration through body storage, death certificate generation, post-mortem coordination, and body release to the family. It maintains a complete chain of custody and ensures legal/regulatory compliance. Access at /dashboard/mortuary.

Admission & Storage

When a death occurs in the hospital:

Death Declaration -- Linked to the IPD admission or ED visit record
Body Registration -- Body assigned to a refrigerator slot with timestamp
Identification -- Body tagged with patient details, MRN, and barcode
Refrigerator Management -- Track available and occupied slots with temperature monitoring
Storage Duration -- Alerts when storage exceeds 24/48/72 hour thresholds

Documentation

Required documentation managed by the module:

Death Certificate -- Generated with cause of death (ICD-10 coded), time of death, attending physician details
Post-Mortem Request -- If required, coordination with forensic department
Police Intimation -- For medico-legal cases, automatic generation of police notification form
Body Release Form -- Signed by authorized family member with ID verification
Embalming Record -- If embalming is performed before release
