Overview

The In-Patient Department (IPD) module manages admitted patients -- from admission to discharge. It covers bed management, nursing care, doctor rounds, medication administration, and discharge planning.

This module is primarily for hospitals and nursing homes with in-patient beds. Solo practitioners and outpatient-only clinics typically do not need IPD.

Key Features

  • Admission-Discharge-Transfer (ADT) workflow
  • Bed management with real-time bed map
  • Ward and room assignment
  • Doctor's round notes
  • Nursing care plans and shift handovers
  • Medication administration records (MAR)
  • Discharge summary generation
  • ICU management with severity scoring

If your clinic has a few observation beds (e.g., for day procedures or post-procedure recovery), you can use the simplified Daycare module instead of full IPD.

IPD ADT lifecycle

Admission, discharge, and transfer actions keep bed, billing, and care teams aligned.

Clinic tip

Solo doctors who occasionally admit patients to a partner hospital can skip the IPD module entirely. Use Referrals to formally transfer patients to the admitting facility.
