Overview

The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) integration connects Bio Ecko with India's national digital health ecosystem. It enables creation and verification of ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) IDs, consent-based health record sharing via the Health Information Exchange & Consent Manager (HIE-CM), and discovery of patient records across participating facilities.

ABHA ID Management

Create or link ABHA IDs during patient registration:

  • Create new ABHA via Aadhaar OTP or mobile OTP
  • Link existing ABHA ID to the patient record
  • Verify ABHA using QR code scan
  • Display ABHA address on all clinical documents

The system stores the ABHA number, ABHA address, and linked PHR addresses. Patients who opt out can still be registered without ABHA.

Health Information Exchange

Share and receive health records through the ABDM network:

  • Discovery -- Other facilities can discover that your hospital holds records for a patient
  • Consent -- Patients grant consent via the PHR app; Bio Ecko processes consent artifacts automatically
  • Data Push -- On consent approval, the system packages the requested records (prescriptions, diagnostics, discharge summaries) into FHIR bundles and pushes them to the requesting facility
  • Data Pull -- When your clinicians request records, the system receives FHIR bundles and displays them in the patient chart under 'External Records'

Supported FHIR Resources

Bio Ecko generates and consumes the following FHIR R4 resources as mandated by ABDM:

  • Patient, Practitioner, Organization
  • Encounter, Condition, Observation
  • MedicationRequest, DiagnosticReport
  • DocumentReference (discharge summary, OP consultation)
  • ImmunizationRecord, Procedure

All records include the SNOMED-CT and ICD-10 coding as required by the ABDM Health Data Standards.

Configuration

Navigate to Admin > Integrations > ABDM to configure:

  • Register your facility with the Health Facility Registry (HFR)
  • Upload Bridge URL and client credentials from the ABDM sandbox/production
  • Map department and doctor identifiers to HFR provider IDs
  • Set consent expiry defaults and auto-approve rules
  • Enable/disable ABDM features per branch

Compliance & Audit

Every ABDM transaction is logged:

  • Consent requests received and processed
  • Health records shared (with timestamp, recipient, record type)
  • ABHA verifications performed
  • Failed transactions with error details

These logs are available under Admin > Audit Logs > ABDM tab and can be exported for regulatory reporting.

Notes

Info

ABDM integration requires a registered Bridge URL with the ABDM gateway. Work with your IT team to configure the callback endpoints.

Tip

Enable the 'Auto-link ABHA' feature during registration to prompt front desk staff to verify or create an ABHA ID for every new patient.

Clinic tip

Small clinics can start with just ABHA ID creation and verification. Enable health record sharing later when you have the technical infrastructure.
