Overview

The Resource Scheduling module provides centralized booking and conflict management for shared hospital resources -- rooms, equipment, vehicles, and facilities. It prevents double-booking, optimizes utilization, and provides visibility into resource availability across departments. Access at /dashboard/resource-scheduling.

Resource Registry

The Resources page at /dashboard/resource-scheduling/resources maintains a catalog of all bookable resources:

• Resource Types -- Rooms (conference, consultation, procedure), equipment (ventilators, portable X-ray, ultrasound), vehicles (ambulance, transport), and facilities (auditorium, training lab)
• Attributes -- Name, type, location, capacity, features/amenities, department owner, maintenance schedule
• Availability -- Default available hours, blocked periods for maintenance, and department-specific access rules
• Status -- Available, booked, maintenance, out-of-service

Booking System

The Bookings page at /dashboard/resource-scheduling/bookings handles reservation management:

• Calendar View -- Week/day view showing all bookings per resource with color-coded status
• Quick Book -- Select resource, date/time, duration, and purpose to create a booking
• Conflict Detection -- Real-time validation prevents overlapping bookings for the same resource
• Recurring Bookings -- Schedule recurring reservations (daily, weekly, monthly) for regular activities
• Approval Workflow -- Optional approval required for high-demand or restricted resources
• Cancellation -- Cancel or reschedule with automatic notification to affected parties

Utilization Analytics

Resource scheduling analytics provide:

• Utilization Rate -- Percentage of available time actually booked, by resource and resource type
• Peak Hours -- Heat map showing demand patterns by hour and day of week
• No-Show Rate -- Bookings where the resource was reserved but not used
• Department Usage -- Breakdown of resource usage by department for cost allocation
• Maintenance Compliance -- Scheduled vs. actual maintenance completion rates
