Overview

The Legal & Compliance module provides tools for managing legal cases, court hearings, regulatory compliance tracking, and internal audit trails. It is designed for the hospital's legal department and compliance officers to track medico-legal cases, insurance disputes, and regulatory inspections. Access at /dashboard/legal.

Case Management

The Cases page at /dashboard/legal/cases tracks all legal matters:

Case Types -- Medical malpractice, insurance disputes, employee grievances, patient complaints escalated to legal, regulatory notices, contract disputes
Case Details -- Case number, filing date, parties involved, assigned lawyer, status (open, in-progress, hearing scheduled, resolved, closed)
Document Attachments -- Link legal documents, court notices, and correspondence to each case
Timeline -- Chronological log of all actions, filings, hearings, and communications
Deadline Tracking -- Critical deadlines with automated reminders for filing responses, court appearances, etc.

Hearings & Calendar

The Hearings page at /dashboard/legal/hearings maintains a calendar of all legal proceedings:

Court hearing dates with location and judge details
Mediation and arbitration sessions
Consumer forum hearings
Internal disciplinary hearings
Automated reminders 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before each hearing
Integration with the master calendar for hospital-wide visibility

Audit Tracker

The Audit Tracker at /dashboard/legal/audit-tracker monitors internal and external audits:

Regulatory Inspections -- Track NABH, state health department, CPCB, fire safety, and other inspections
Internal Audits -- Schedule and track clinical audits, medical records audits, and process audits
Findings Management -- Log audit findings, assign corrective actions, track remediation status
Compliance Score -- Dashboard showing compliance percentage across all tracked standards
Due Diligence -- Pre-audit checklists and preparation workflow

Compliance Dashboard

Key compliance metrics displayed on the Legal dashboard:

Open cases by type and status
Upcoming hearing calendar
Overdue audit findings requiring remediation
Regulatory license renewal dates
Insurance policy expiry dates
Consent form compliance rates across departments

Notes

Warning

Legal case data is highly sensitive. Access is restricted to admin and owner roles by default. Configure additional access restrictions based on your hospital's legal team structure.

Tip

Use the audit tracker proactively for NABH preparation. Schedule mock audits 3-6 months before the actual assessment.
