Overview

The Hospital Command Center provides a real-time operational overview of the entire hospital on a single screen. Designed for wall-mounted displays in the hospital operations room, it aggregates live data from all modules into KPI tiles, charts, and alert feeds. Access at /dashboard/command-center.

Live Metrics

The command center displays:

  • Bed Occupancy -- Current census with ward-level breakdown, occupancy percentage, and trend
  • ED Status -- Patients in ED by acuity, average wait time, boarding patients
  • OT Utilization -- Active surgeries, upcoming procedures, room availability
  • OPD Volume -- Today's appointments, completed consultations, patients in queue
  • Lab Turnaround -- Average TAT for stat and routine orders, pending critical results
  • Pending Discharges -- Patients cleared for discharge but still occupying beds
  • Financial Summary -- Today's collections, outstanding receivables, insurance pending
  • Staffing -- Current shift coverage across departments

Alert Feed

A live alert ticker shows:

  • Critical lab values awaiting acknowledgment
  • Patient deterioration events (elevated MEWS/NEWS scores)
  • Equipment failures
  • Bed crunch warnings
  • Long wait time alerts
  • Code announcements (Code Blue, Fire, Disaster)

Alerts are color-coded by severity and link directly to the relevant module for action.

Configuration

The command center is customizable:

  • Widget Layout -- Drag-and-drop widget arrangement
  • Data Sources -- Select which metrics to display
  • Refresh Rate -- Configurable auto-refresh (default: 60 seconds)
  • Theme -- Dark mode optimized for large displays
  • Multi-Branch -- Aggregate data from multiple branches or show branch-specific views

The command center is designed for continuous display and optimizes for minimal browser resource usage.

Notes

Tip

Mount a dedicated large screen (55+ inches) in the nursing supervisor's office or operations room for the command center. It transforms hospital management visibility.

Info

The command center uses a dark theme by default for optimal readability on large displays. It auto-refreshes every 60 seconds.
