Overview

The Oncology module supports cancer care workflows including tumour staging (TNM), chemotherapy protocol management, radiation therapy documentation, tumour board coordination, and survivorship care planning. It is designed for medical, surgical, and radiation oncology teams.

Tumour Registry & Staging

Comprehensive cancer documentation:

• Tumour registry: Site (ICD-O-3 topography), morphology, behaviour, grade, laterality.
• TNM staging: Clinical (cTNM) and pathological (pTNM) staging per AJCC 8th edition.
• Stage group auto-calculated from TNM components.
• Biomarker recording: ER/PR/HER2 for breast, EGFR/ALK/PD-L1 for lung, MSI/MMR for colorectal, etc.
• Multi-disciplinary tumour board documentation with treatment recommendations.
• Staging history preserved across disease course for restaging.

Chemotherapy Management

Chemotherapy protocol management:

• Protocol library: Pre-configured regimens (FOLFOX, FOLFIRI, AC-T, R-CHOP, etc.) with drug, dose, route, schedule, and cycle details.
• BSA and GFR-based dose calculation with auto-adjustment.
• Cycle scheduling with treatment calendar view.
• Pre-chemotherapy checklist: Blood counts, organ function, consent, anti-emetic orders.
• Chemotherapy administration documentation: Drug, actual dose, infusion time, reactions.
• Toxicity grading per CTCAE v5 with dose modification rules per protocol.
• Cumulative dose tracking for drugs with lifetime limits (e.g., anthracyclines).

Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy documentation:

• Treatment plan summary: Technique (3D-CRT, IMRT, VMAT, SRS), target volumes, prescribed dose, fractionation.
• Daily fraction documentation linked to the treatment machine (via DICOM-RT import where available).
• Treatment completion tracking: Fractions delivered vs planned.
• Acute toxicity assessment per RTOG grading at weekly reviews.
• On-treatment imaging documentation (CBCT, portal images).

Supportive Care

Integrated supportive care documentation:

• Pain assessment: WHO pain ladder documentation, opioid conversion calculator.
• Nutrition: Malnutrition screening (PG-SGA), dietitian referral, nutritional support orders.
• Psycho-oncology: Distress thermometer screening, counselling session documentation.
• Palliative care: Symptom assessment (ESAS), advance care planning, goals of care discussions.
• Survivorship care plans: Follow-up schedule, surveillance investigations, late effects monitoring.
