Overview

The Psychiatry module provides mental health-specific documentation tools with psychometric scales, medication management for psychiatric drugs, therapy session tracking, Mental Healthcare Act (MHCA 2017) compliance forms, and confidentiality safeguards.

Psychometric Assessments

Built-in standardized scales include: PHQ-9 (depression), GAD-7 (anxiety), PANSS (schizophrenia), YMRS (mania), AUDIT (alcohol use), DAST (drug abuse), MMSE/MoCA (cognitive screening), and HAM-D/HAM-A. Scores are calculated automatically and trended over visits. Custom scales can be added by administrators. Assessment results integrate into the clinical dashboard with severity indicators.

Medication Management

Psychiatric prescribing includes special features: drug interaction alerts specific to psychotropics (MAOIs, SSRIs, lithium combinations), dose titration tracking with target dose schedules, PRN medication recording, depot injection scheduling with reminders, and therapeutic drug monitoring alerts (lithium levels, valproate levels). Controlled substance prescriptions follow Schedule H1 formatting requirements.

Therapy Sessions

Track therapy sessions with: session type (individual, group, family, couple), therapeutic modality (CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, REBT, supportive), session duration, clinical notes (with configurable templates per modality), homework assignments, and risk assessment updates. Group therapy sessions can record multiple patient attendances with individual notes.

MHCA Compliance

Built-in forms for Mental Healthcare Act 2017 compliance: Admission Forms (Form 1-6 for supported admission, Form 7-10 for independent admission), Advance Directive registration, Nominated Representative documentation, and Review Board application forms. The system tracks statutory timelines and generates alerts for mandatory reviews.

Notes

Warning

Psychiatric records have enhanced access controls. Only designated mental health professionals can view psychiatric notes. General staff see a notification that restricted records exist without viewing content.

Clinic tip

Solo psychiatrists should enable the Quick Consult view that shows the last psychometric scores, current medications, and a fresh note template on one screen.
