Overview

The Ophthalmology module provides eye-care-specific workflows including visual acuity recording, refraction data, slit lamp findings, fundus examination templates, IOP tracking, and surgical planning for cataract, glaucoma, and refractive procedures.

Visual Acuity & Refraction

Record uncorrected and best-corrected visual acuity for each eye in Snellen, LogMAR, or decimal notation. The refraction panel captures sphere, cylinder, axis, and add power with auto-transposition support. Previous refraction history is displayed alongside current readings for comparison. The system supports both subjective and autorefractor readings.

Examination Templates

Specialty-specific templates cover: Anterior Segment (lids, conjunctiva, cornea, anterior chamber, iris, lens with grading scales), Posterior Segment (disc, macula, vessels, periphery with drawing tool), Gonioscopy (Shaffer grading for all four angles), and Slit Lamp Findings (with structured coding). Templates use standardized drop-down grading where possible to ensure consistent documentation.

IOP Tracking & Glaucoma

Record intraocular pressure with applanation (Goldmann), non-contact, or iCare tonometry. The IOP trend chart displays readings over time with target IOP markers. Visual field test results (Humphrey/Octopus) can be uploaded and linked. The glaucoma follow-up template tracks IOP, disc changes, field progression, and medication compliance in a structured dashboard.

Surgical Planning

Cataract surgery planning includes IOL power calculation (SRK-T, Barrett, Hill-RBF formulas with biometry data), lens selection, surgical technique notes (phaco parameters, incision details), and post-op protocol scheduling. Refractive surgery planning captures topography data, pachymetry, and ablation profiles. All surgical notes use structured templates with intraoperative complication documentation.

Notes

Clinic tip

Solo ophthalmologists should configure the Quick Exam flow that combines VA, refraction, slit lamp, and IOP in a single-screen tabbed layout.

Tip

Upload OCT and topography images directly to the patient record. They can be viewed alongside clinical notes during follow-up visits.
