Overview

The Pulmonology module supports respiratory disease management with spirometry integration, asthma/COPD action plans, sleep study documentation, bronchoscopy reporting, and ventilator management for critical care.

Spirometry (PFT)

Pulmonary function testing:

• Import spirometry data from connected devices (flow-volume loops, volume-time curves).
• Auto-calculate and display: FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC ratio, PEF, FEF25-75.
• Predicted values based on patient demographics (age, sex, height, ethnicity) using GLI-2012 reference equations.
• Pre and post-bronchodilator comparison with reversibility assessment.
• Severity classification per GOLD criteria for COPD.
• Serial PFT trend charts to track disease progression or treatment response.

Asthma & COPD Management

Structured disease management tools:

• Asthma: ACT (Asthma Control Test) scoring, inhaler technique assessment, step-up/step-down therapy planning per GINA guidelines, personalised action plan generation (green/yellow/red zones).
• COPD: mMRC dyspnoea scale, CAT score, GOLD ABCD classification, exacerbation history tracking, pulmonary rehab referral.
• Inhaler prescription with device selection (MDI, DPI, nebuliser) and technique education tracking.
• Printable action plans for patients with personalised triggers and medication adjustments.

Bronchoscopy Reporting

Structured bronchoscopy documentation:

• Indication, sedation details, and airway assessment.
• Anatomical findings mapped to the bronchial tree diagram.
• Procedures: BAL, brushings, transbronchial biopsy, EBUS-TBNA, foreign body removal, stenting.
• Specimen tracking linked to the laboratory module.
• Complications and post-procedure monitoring.
• Image and video capture from the bronchoscope integrated into the report.

Sleep Medicine

Sleep study documentation:

• Upload and link polysomnography (PSG) reports.
• Record AHI, oxygen desaturation index, sleep architecture.
• CPAP/BiPAP titration results and pressure settings.
• Follow-up compliance tracking with CPAP usage data.
• Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) and STOP-BANG scoring.

Ventilator Management

For ICU-based pulmonologists:

• Ventilator settings documentation: Mode, FiO2, PEEP, tidal volume, rate, I:E ratio.
• ABG integration with P/F ratio calculation and trending.
• Weaning protocol tracking: SBT attempts, RSBI calculation, extubation readiness.
• Ventilator-free days tracking for outcomes assessment.
• Prone positioning documentation with timing logs.
