Overview

The Dental module provides a visual tooth-charting interface alongside standard clinical workflows. Dentists can record findings per tooth and surface, plan multi-visit treatment sequences, and track prosthetic work orders -- all linked to the patient's EMR.

Tooth Chart

The interactive dental chart displays all 32 permanent teeth (or deciduous teeth for paediatric patients) using the FDI two-digit notation system.

1. Click any tooth on the chart to open its detail panel.
2. Select the affected surface(s): Mesial, Distal, Buccal, Lingual, Occlusal, Incisal.
3. Record findings: Caries, Fracture, Missing, Restored, Root Canal Treated, Crown, Bridge Abutment, Implant, etc.
4. Findings are colour-coded on the chart for a visual summary at a glance.
5. Historical findings are preserved so you can see the progression over visits.

Treatment Planning

After charting findings, create a treatment plan:

1. Click Plan Treatment on the chart or from the visit screen.
2. Add procedures per tooth: Filling, Extraction, RCT, Scaling, Crown, Bridge, Implant, etc.
3. Arrange procedures in visit sequence (e.g., Visit 1: Scaling, Visit 2: RCT #36, Visit 3: Crown #36).
4. The system estimates cost per visit based on your fee schedule.
5. Present the plan to the patient with a printable treatment estimate.
6. Once accepted, planned procedures appear in the appointment scheduler for follow-up booking.

Prosthetic Lab Orders

For crowns, bridges, dentures, and other lab work:

1. From the treatment plan, click Send to Lab for the prosthetic procedure.
2. Select the dental lab from your vendor list.
3. Specify the material (PFM, Zirconia, E.max, Acrylic, etc.), shade, and any special instructions.
4. Print or email the lab order with tooth details and bite registration notes.
5. Track the order status: Sent > Work in Progress > Ready for Trial > Delivered.
6. Record the trial fit and final cementation in the treatment log.

Periodontal Charting

For periodontal assessment, the module provides a full-mouth perio chart:

• Record probing depths at 6 points per tooth (MB, B, DB, ML, L, DL).
• Mark bleeding on probing, suppuration, furcation involvement, and mobility grade.
• The system calculates and displays the Periodontal Summary Index.
• Compare perio charts across visits to track treatment response.

Imaging Integration

Dental X-rays (IOPA, OPG, CBCT) integrate with the Radiology module:

• Order dental imaging directly from the tooth chart.
• View images alongside the dental chart in a split-screen layout.
• Annotate images with findings that auto-link to the tooth record.
• OPG and CBCT images from compatible sensors are auto-imported via DICOM.
