Overview
Roster Planning enables department managers and nursing supervisors to create weekly and monthly shift schedules for their teams, ensuring adequate coverage across all shifts while respecting employee preferences and labour regulations.
Planning Interface
Navigate to HR > Roster Planning:
- Calendar grid view: rows are employees, columns are dates.
- Drag-and-drop shift assignment: select a shift type and drop onto a cell.
- Shift types: Morning (M), Evening (E), Night (N), General (G), Off (O).
- Auto-fill: apply a shift pattern across a date range.
- Minimum staffing indicators: the system warns if a shift falls below the required headcount.
- Leave integration: approved leaves are pre-blocked on the grid.
Auto-Generation
Generate rosters automatically from roster cycles:
- Select the department and date range.
- Choose the applicable roster cycle template.
- Click Generate to populate the calendar.
- Review and adjust as needed before publishing.
- Published rosters are visible to staff in their self-service portal.
Notes
Tip
Publish rosters at least 2 weeks in advance. Early visibility helps staff plan personal commitments and reduces last-minute swap requests.
